Anyone who’s been involved in a hit-and-run crash understands the devastation such an incident can cause.  Not only are those who are wrongfully harmed left in a state of pain and suffering, but many people assume that since the driver was not identified, there is nowhere to turn for help.  Unfortunately, two women face the same situation after being struck while on foot last night.

According to the Sun-Sentinel:

“A Fort Lauderdale woman is fighting for her life after police say she and a friend were the victims of a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night on Las Olas Boulevard.

Carolyn Bianco, 65, was taken to Broward General Medical Center in critical condition with a life-threatening head injury, police said. Her friend Victoria Kirby, 62, suffered relatively minor injuries, police said. Kirby was released from Broward General Thursday afternoon.

The two were crossing East Las Olas Boulevard near Southeast 11th Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when a dark-colored SUV hit them, according to police. The driver did not stop; the vehicle continued eastbound.”

Police are asking anyone who has information to offer to contact them and provide it.  Contrary to what many people may think, there is help available to victims of hit-and-run crashes.  Eventually, the majority of hit-and-run drivers are ultimately apprehended, and you need to be ready to assert your legal rights if and when that occurs.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in such an incident, you need the help of Florida personal injury lawyers who have the experience necessary to successfully hold those responsible for these acts accountable.  Contact Bernstein & Maryanoff today to schedule a free initial consultation.
