Hit-and-Run Crash Leads to Death of Motorcyclist

Hit-and-run accidents are always difficult situations to deal with for everyone involved, including those who are injured or worse and the police who must attempt to identify the driver responsible for the damage caused.  While these drivers are usually apprehended, that may not serve as much comfort for the family of a man driving a motorcycle who was hit and killed early Sunday.

According to the Sun-Sentinel:

“The driver of a white Cadillac ran over a motorcyclist who had fallen from his bike onto Interstate 95 early Sunday, and the driver did not stop, authorities said.

Juan Luis Garcia-Loygorri, 31, of Fort Lauderdale, was traveling in the northbound center lane near Oakland Park Boulevard when he lost control of the motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Garcia-Loygorri was thrown off the bike, along with his passenger Pablo Ahad Salledo, 26, of Pompano Beach, state troopers said.

A white, four-door Cadillac with the Florida license plate 778 MEY struck the motorcyclist in the roadway, killing him, authorities said. The driver stopped and got out of the car briefly before getting back in and continuing north on the interstate. Salledo, who had minor injuries, was taken to Broward General Medical Center.”

The fact that there is at least one witness involved and that authorities know the type of vehicle and part of the license plate number would indicate that there is a chance that the driver will be located.  If you or someone you love has been harmed by a hit-and-run driver, you need to avoid hesitation and work to enforce your legal rights.  Contact the Fort Lauderdale accident lawyers at Bernstein & Maryanoff today to schedule a free initial consultation, as the firm has years of experience in successfully fighting for the rights of their clients.
