People continue to look for more economical ways to travel for many reasons.  Fuel is expensive, as are vehicles, and a place like Florida lends itself perfectly to open-air travel options such as scooters.  While scooters can offer convenience and savings for getting around town, they can also be extremely dangerous given their small size, their slow rate of speed and the possibility that a vehicle that small will simply be misjudged or overlooked altogether.  Sadly, one area man paid a heavy price for sharing the road with larger vehicles recently when his scooter was hit by a car.  The man remains in critical condition.

According to the Sun-Sentinel:

“A man riding a motorized scooter remained in critical condition Wednesday after a Monday evening accident.

Richard Musho of Fort Lauderdale is recovering at Broward General Medical Center.

Authorities said the accident happened at 8:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Ocean Boulevard.

Police said Musho rode into the northbound lanes of North Ocean Boulevard from Northeast 32nd Street when an Acura traveling in the same direction struck him.

Musho was thrown off the scooter. The accident is under investigation.”

Police are beginning to investigate the matter in order to determine a definitive cause.  Authorities are also asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them with whatever information they can offer.
