Pedestrians take on risk when they share the roads with moving vehicles, even if they are using the cross-walks as they’re supposed to. There are still times when collisions occur, and it’s obvious which party is at a distinct disadvantage when such a situation arises. These incidents are only more problematic when the driver of a vehicle in a pedestrian-automobile collision flees the scene. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened last week, and police are continuing the search for the driver of a vehicle that left a man in critical condition.
According to the Sun-Sentinel:
“A 62-year-old man struck by a hit-and-run driver almost a week ago remained in critical condition Tuesday.
Anostrave Benjamin is being treated at Broward General Medical Center.
According to police, Benjamin was crossing West Sunrise Boulevard at Northwest Fourth Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 25, when a white Dodge Neon struck him in the far-left lane.
After striking Benjamin, the Neon continued east for a short distance, crossed the median, and left the scene traveling west, police said. The car was last seen turning north on Northwest Seventh Avenue.
The car was described as a two-door vehicle with no hubcaps and tinted windows. An approximate model year was not released.”
While nothing can be certain, when police have a description as detailed as the one above, it heightens the chances that the driver will ultimately be found and brought to justice.
