Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with SUV

Motorcycles offer several advantages for those who drive them, but perhaps the biggest disadvantage can be found when comparing the size of these vehicles to sedans and particularly SUV’s.  That extra size leaves drivers and passengers at an extreme disadvantage when motorcycles collide with larger vehicles.  Tragically, the exposure of motorcycle passengers was also relevant in the death of a man driving one who was killed in a crash with an SUV in Margate.

According to the Sun-Sentinel:

“A man was killed Monday night when the Honda motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV, according to police.

The incident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rock Island Road and Royal Palm Boulevard.

According to police, Caesar Anthony Collazo, 22, was riding south on Rock Island Road when his 2006 Honda motorcycle struck a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Monica Marie Rivera, 22, of Margate. At the time, police said, Rivera was going north on Rock Island Road and turning left at Royal Palm Boulevard.”

While not wearing a helmet could be relevant to any civil claim that arises, it does not change the fact that true fault has yet to be determined in this situation.  The article states that authorities are investigating the incident for that reason.  If you or someone you love has been injured in a motorcycle accident, you need to contact the Fort Lauderdale accident lawyers who have been successfully fighting for the rights of the injured for more than 20 years.  Contact Bernstein & Maryanoff today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Collazo, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. No other injuries were reported.
