Urban trains are becoming more popular both in Florida and around the country for many reasons. Not only is it an advantage to be able to avoid traffic jams, particularly in South Florida, but trains offer what is generally smooth service, prompt arrival times and the ability to save on fuel and auto maintenance costs. According to an update provided by the Sun-Sentinel:
“Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian killed by a train this afternoon.
No details are available, but initial reports are that the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on the CSX tracks between Northwest 6th Street and West Sunrise Boulevard.
Police spokesman Sgt. Frank Sousa says the person has died.”
While this is all the information the public has at this time, it highlights the fact that people walking to and from their destinations need to be careful and watch for these enormous vehicles as they pass by wherever they happen to stand.
