A woman was killed and her passenger injured when she lost control of her car in the early morning hours in Fort Lauderdale. While no known cause for the crash has been released, the tragedy involved does raise an important point for anyone who is out on the roads during late hours. According to a brief update provided by the Miami Herald:
“A 28-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman died early Monday when her car went off the road and smashed into a palm tree, police said.
Lisa Cunningham was driving her 2001 Lexus in the 4800 block of South Andrews Avenue at 3:27 a.m., when her car left the roadway ”for an unknown reason” and crashed into the tree, police spokesman Frank Sousa said.
Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A passenger in Cunningham’s car, Adrianna Couples, 27, was treated at the scene, police said.”
While it would be irresponsible to levy any allegation against the driver of the vehicle before an investigation is complete, the lesson that should be learned by all is that if you are out driving at that time of day, you simply cannot be careful enough. During those late/early hours, there are people on the road who have been drinking, who are tired and who basically should not be driving. It’s deceiving to think that since there are not as many vehicles on the road as there are during the day that you are safer as a result.
